Overview
The Math Department at CVSR offers a full range of courses for all students, from those needing extra support to those who are budding mathematicians. Advanced Placement courses include AB Calculus and Computer Science. Our students routinely perform above the national percentage placement. This year CVSR added new courses to their students. In addition, to offering more tutoring programs and more online resources for students in different grades.
Integrated Algebra
Course Description:
The Integrated Algebra course prepares students to develop an understanding of the fundamental principles of Algebra. Students will follow the New York State Regents curriculum for Algebra. This course is based on New York State Standard 3 of MST. “Students use mathematical reasoning to analyze mathematical situations, make conjuncture, gather evidence, and construct an argument.” Indirect proofs are attained by using mathematical induction. At the conclusion of this course, students will have skills needed to understand complex number systems and using graphing techniques.
The focus of the course will address the following:
- Variables, Function Patterns, and Graphs.
- Rational Numbers.
- Solving Equations.
- Solving Inequalities.
- Graphs and Functions.
- Linear Equations and Their Graphs.
